Gwagwalada Township Water Reticulation
42km of HDPE reticulation, two 1,500m³ elevated tanks and 3,800 metered connections serving a township of 90,000.
The engineering challenge
Legacy asbestos-cement mains had a 60% loss rate and undocumented routing; excavation risked cutting the very supply residents depended on during works.
How we solved it
We ran new HDPE mains in parallel corridors with night-time tie-ins zone by zone, keeping supply live throughout. GIS as-builts and district metering were handed over with the works — the Board now measures losses below 12% and bills what it pumps.
